Action for Healthy Kids:

Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) is a nationwide initiative dedicated to improving the health and educational performance of children through better nutrition and physical activity in schools.  Local AFHK zone coalitions work at grassroots level to implement Ohio’s AFHK goals which are the following:

· To increase the number of students and school that participate in the School Breakfast Program.

· To ensure that healthy snacks and foods are provided in vending machines, school stores, and other venues within the school’s control.

· To provide adequate co-curricular physical activity programs, including fully inclusive intramural programs and physical activity clubs.

The Auglaize County Health Department is actively involved in the coordination of Zone 2 AFHK activities.  Zone 2 consists of Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Putnam, and Van Wert counties.
