JOB EXPERIENCE |
|
At most places, you must be 16 years old to get a job. But, there are many ways that younger teens also can get job experience. Some of these will pay; others will not, such as volunteering. The important thing is getting some experience that will help you get a paying job and show future employers that you are a responsible and mature person.
You can babysit, mow lawns, or do odd jobs around your neighborhood. If you have an adult friend or relative who owns a business, ask how you might help. Check with your school guidance counselor. Sometimes they get requests from people who want to hire students for small jobs. School programs can prepare you for employment immediately following graduation. Talk with your high school guidance counselor to see what is available at your school. Vocational schools can teach you skills which will help you qualify for a particular job.
The following agency offers assistance to adults and youth to help them find a paying job.
